Passing in Rugby

Passing in Rugby works different than in many other sports. Players are NOT allowed to pass the ball forwards, this is called a "forward pass" which results in a stoppage of play. Players must pass behind themselves, in the opposite direction they are trying to score.

The types of passes typically used in rugby are:

Spin Pass - Underhand throw with a spiral Used to pass over longer distances.

Pop Pass - Underhand throw with no spiral. Used in close quarters situations, or to make a quick pass.
