7s rugby is a fast paced, high intensity version of rugby that is very popular around the world, and is featured in the Olympics. As the name suggests, 7s rugby consists of seven players per side. See the image below for the position diagram.
Jersey numbers are not significant in sevens because the players have to adapt to playing different positions throughout the game. There are less players on the field, meaning it is very high tempo and fast paced. For this reason, players often have to fill in for other roles and adapt on the fly.
